The vuvuzela is an African horn which was used to summon distant villagers to attend community gatherings. In the hands or should I say mouth of a World Cup soccer fan adorned with a clown suit or worse, it is used to drive potential fans such as this writer away from the TV set. I hope the Senate takes up work on legislation to ban vuvuzelas at all domestic sporting events. Knowing the Senate, they will come up with a compromise permitting bull horns in place of vuvuzelas.

The USA was eliminated today by Ghana. Does that mean that third world countries have an edge in the competition for the World Cup. If we don't shake our economic doldrums, we'll be a third world country by 2014 and a cinch to win the World Cup.
